תאור כללי של הקורס: במסגרת הקורס נעקוב אחר הדיאלוג החזותי בין פוליתאיסטים, יהודים, נוצרים ומוסלמים במזרח התיכון בשלהי העת העתיקה. תשומת לב מיוחדת תינתן לתפקידה של האמנות בהבניית הזהות האתנית והדתית של מגוון קבוצות האוכלוסין, אשר חלקו מרחב גיאוגרפי משותף זה. לצד הקשרים והשפעות הגומלין בין הקבוצות נצביע גם על ההבדלים ביניהן. יצירות האמנות תבחנה כמסמכים היסטוריים ונבחן את מידת ההלימה בינן לבין טקסטים בני התקופה. מטרות הקורס: חשיפת התלמידים לגישה אינטרדיסציפלינרית המשלבת בין תולדות האמנות, ארכיאולוגיה, היסטוריה, לימודים קלאסיים, מדעי היהדות וחקר הנצרות. היכרות עם ההיבטים המתודולוגיים הנוגעים לשילוב בין טקסטים לבין דימויים חזותיים. פתוח יכולת של קריאה ביקורתית של ספרות המחקר באמצעות הצגה של עמדות מנוגדות תוצרי למידה בסיומו של קורס זה, סטודנטים יהיו מסוגלים: התלמידים יהיו מסוגלים לכתוב עבודה מחקרית. דרישות נוכחות (%): 80% שיטת ההוראה בקורס:סמינר רשימת נושאים / תכנית הלימודים בקורס: שעור 1: חלק א: מבוא לשלהי העת העתיקה, תיקוף, תולדות המחקר, גישות ואתגרים חדשים. חלק ב: המפגש הבין-דתי בין פוליתאיסטים, יהודים ונוצרים במרחב הסורי; דורא אירופוס עיר שיירות כמקרה מבחן שעור 2: המפגש הבין-דתי בין פוליתאיסטים, יהודים ונוצרים ; דורא אירופוס (המשך) ואתרים נוספים במזרח הרומי שעור 3: הלניזם בשלהי העת העתיקה (חלק א) שעור 4: הלניזם בשלהי העת העתיקה (חלק ב) שעור 5: בין תיאור ויזואלי לדמיון חזותי האקפרסייס ; המושג והקשריו הרומיים והביזנטיים המוקדמים (מפילוסטרטוס לפרוקופיוס מעזה ומהטבולה של קבס ליוהנס מעזה). שעור 6: אמנות הדמות בקרב יהודים ונוצרים במאות השנייה רביעית שעור 7: עליית דתות הספר; תיאורים נרטיבים בבית הכנסת ובכנסייה 2 / 11
