The Prayer of the Prophet Chavakook translated with interlinear commentaries. Commentaries from Rashi and the book prophecies of the end of days 1 A prayer of the prophet Habakkuk. [Habakkuk is begging for mercy ]In the mode of Shigionoth. [For the last generation who is confused and lacks Daat] 2 O Lord! I have learned of Your renown; [You always inflicted retribution upon those who provoked You, yet You tolerate this wicked man. This is the Gevurah, that] I am awed, [ How has the Divine standard of justice changed because of Israel s iniquity? {-Rashi} how can a man who fears Hashem hold on?] O LORD, by Your deeds. [Like those You did for us when we left Egypt] Renew them in these years, [Awaken it and restore it. let us also see these miracles] Oh, make them known in these years! [Make the truth known in the world] Though angry, [through wars] may You remember compassion.[in the anger that You will vent upon the wicked, You will remember to have mercy on your children and save them.] 3 Hashem [make Your kingdom and rulership be known, That You are the only God] comes from Teman, [from the sons of Esav that should be destroyed] The Holy One from Mount Paran [from the sons of Ishmael that should be nullified {as Scripture states (Gen. 21:21): And he dwelt in the desert of ו ה ת ג ד ל ת י ו ה ת ק ד ש ת י ו נ וד ע ת י" written Paran. }]. Selah. [to be everlasting like it is Thus }"ל ע ינ י will I manifest My greatness and My ג וי ם ר ב ים ו י ד ע ו כ י א נ י י ה ו ה holiness, and make Myself known in the sight of many nations. And they shall know that I am the LORD.} By punishing the wicked and saving the righteous with revealed miracles, and showing his Shechina on them, and it will be revealed the truth of His Torah and that Yisrael is his son ] His majesty covers the skies, [it will be known in the whole world ] His splendor fills the earth: 4 It is a brilliant light [Like the special light of the seven days of Creation.] Which gives off rays on every side [The expression of a light, which, when piercing and shining through a hole, appears like protruding horns. Similarly, (Ex. 34:29) For the skin of his face shone. ] And therein His glory is enveloped.[from the hand of the Holy One, blessed be He, they came to them. As the Targum renders: There His strength, which had previously been hidden, was revealed in the secret place of the Highest.] 5 Pestilence marches [like it is written in Yechezkeil 38 "I will punish him with pestilence and with bloodshed"] before Him, [Midrash Aggadah: At the time the Holy One, blessed be He, gave the Torah to Israel, He drove away the Angel of Death to divert him to other things, lest he stands to accuse and say, You are giving the Torah to a nation that is destined to deny
you at the end of forty days? ] And plague comes forth[fiery angels came with Him] at His heels. 6 [in his command] When He [Hashem] stands, He makes the earth shake; [ He will change the size of the earth like it is written in Yeshayahu 65 :17 For behold! I am creating A new heaven and a new earth; י ה נ נ י ב ור א ש מ י ם ח ד ש ים ו א ר ץ ח ד ש ה When [ כ He glances, [ see the acts of the nations] He makes nations tremble. The age-old mountains are shattered, The primeval hills sink low.[the heavenly princes of the nations] כ י ה ה ר ים י מ ו ש ו His are the ancient routes: [like it is written in Yeshayahu54:10 shaken,] 7 For the mountains may move And the hills be ו ה ג ב ע ות ת מ וט ינ ה Because of iniquity [bitul of the commandments] I behold [there are] The tents of Cushan; [standing in the open and inflicting injury upon Israel, and when they humbled themselves before you ] Shaken are the pavilions [the tents] Of the land of Midian [Ishmael]! 8 Was the Lord angry with the rivers, [why did you dry them?] Is His wrath against the rivers, or His fury against the sea? Only that You rode on Your steeds [ to make war with the nations] with Your chariots of salvation.[to save your servants] 9 All bared [it will be known] and ready[they will awaken] is Your bow[the rainbow in the cloud to remind us that]. Sworn are the rods [The oaths that You swore to the tribes. ] of the word. Selah. [The infinite word, as it is written in Yeshayahu כ י מ י נ ח ז את ל י א ש ר נ ש ב ע ת י מ ע ב ר מ י נ ח ע וד ע ל ה א ר ץ כ ן נ ש ב ע ת י מ ק צ ף ע ל י ך 54:9 For this to Me is like the waters of Noah: As I swore that the ומ ג ע ר ב ך waters of Noah Nevermore would flood the earth, So I swear that I will not Be angry with you or rebuke you. On the day of the redemption, the righteous will be guarded against the water the fire and the earthquakes] Just as the rainbow is a sign that Hashem will not destroy the whole world again ]67 10 Mountains saw You and quaked. A stream of water passed. The deep gave forth its voice. The heaven raised up its thanks. [waters raised their hands in praise to Hashem] 11 Sun [and] moon stand השביט still on high As Your arrows fly in brightness [Meteors of the star {loosely translated comet}, they go, [people] to the brightness [the returning light] of the lightning of Your spear.[the same star, as is written in Devarim א ם ש נ ות י ב ר ק ח ר ב י }ס{ ו ת אח ז ב מ ש פ ט י ד י א ש יב נ ק ם ל צ ר י }ס{ ו ל מ ש נ א י א ש ל ם :31 When I whet My flashing blade And My hand lays hold on judgment, {see Daniel 7:10}Vengeance will I wreak on My foes, Will I deal to those who reject א ש כ יר ח צ י מ ד ם }ס{ ו ח ר ב י ת אכ ל ב ש ר מ ד ם ח ל ל ו ש ב י ה }ס{ מ ר א ש פ ר ע ות א וי ב Me. 32 I will make My arrows drunk with blood As My sword devours flesh Blood of the slain and the captive From the long-haired enemy chiefs. 12 You tread [like he is crushing him with his feet] the earth [like it is written in
Yeshayahu 66:16 כ י ב א ש י ה ו ה נ ש פ ט וב ח ר ב ו א ת כ ל ב ש ר ו ר ב ו ח ל ל י י ה ו ה For with fire will the LORD contend, With His sword, against all flesh; And many shall be the slain of the LORD. In rage, You trample nations in fury. [The soldiers of gog and in the nation of go there will be fire and sulfur {see yeshayahu 34} 13 You have come forth to deliver Your people, To deliver Your anointed.[mashiach Ben David] You have crushed the head [nations]of the house of the wicked,[amalek and the king o magog] uncovering it from the foundation to the neck-forever. [You will destroy it to the foundations completely] Selah 14 You will crack [his] skull with Your bludgeon; Blown away shall be his warriors,[see Yechezkeil 38:21] Whose delight is to crush me suddenly, To devour a poor man in an ambush. [Israel is likened to a poor man] 15 [Hashem will wage war against them like stepping on them] -You will make Your steeds[the carriages of angles] tread the sea, Stirring the mighty waters. 16 I heard and my bowels quaked,[with fear] My lips quivered at the sound;[at the sound of the report, trembling took hold of me until my lips knocked one against the other and their sound was heard.] Rot entered into my bone, I trembled where I stood. Yet I wait calmly for the day of distress,[the salvation the redemption comes on a day of great danger] For a people to come to attack us. [it is said that gog will come to attack us as we huddle unified in the safety of Yerushalayim] 17 Though the fig tree does not bud And no yield is on the vine, [from the fire that will come from the heavens] Though the olive crop has failed And the fields produce no grain,[see Micha 7:13] Though sheep have vanished from the fold And no cattle are in the pen,- 18 Yet I will [the righteous that will remain] rejoice in Hashem, Exult in the God who delivers me.[as is written ור א ית ם ו ש ש ל ב כ ם ו ע צ מ ות יכ ם כ ד ש א ת פ ר ח נ ה ו נ וד ע ה י ד י ה ו ה 66:14 in Yeshayahu You shall see and your heart shall rejoice, Your {א ת ע ב ד יו ו ז ע ם א ת א י ב יו }ס limbs shall flourish like grass.[people will be healed] The power of the LORD shall be revealed In behalf of His servants; But He shall rage against His foes. ] 19 My Lord GOD is my strength:[hashem will provide the righteous will all kinds of miracles] He makes my feet like the deer s [as swift to run after the enemy ] And lets me stride upon the heights. [Yerushalyim] For the leader; [to play] with instrumental music. Who we are and what we do Yeshivas Hamekubalim Nefesh Hachaim merits being located in Yerushalayim on Har Tzion adjacent to Kever David Hamelech. The yeshiva is a pioneer in publishing siddurim and machzorim with the Kavanot of the Arizal specially geared to the beginner. Our siddurim are printed in an unabridged, clear format. They include instructions, introductions, and various customs written in a clear and easy style specified for our day and age. They also feature various prayers, intentions, charts and expanded Roshei Teivos to assist those wishing to enter these gates of wisdom. All this is done with nice fonts and typesettings which facilitate easy reading. Many of those who got used to our siddurim claim they cannot substitute it for any other kind. Throughout the years we've expanded the repertoire of seforim we publish to incorporate a few types of siddurim, machzorim, tikun chatzot and pamphlets on various subjects. We also plan on publishing B ezrat Hashem, a Tehilim, seforim on halachot and customs, commentaries on the Arizal's writing and other Kabbalah seforim, Siddurim for women, Seder for Hoshana Raba night, shavuos night, Shvi'i Shel Pesach, books on segulos and personal prayers, a book of songs for Shabbos and festivals, Seder for Chanukas Habayit, Seder for a Brit Yitzchak, and prayers for the illui nashama of the niftarim. Yeshivas Hamekubalim Nefesh Hachaim merits encouragement from gedolei Torah of our generation and is especially endorsed by Rabbi Yitzchak Goldstein Shlit a Rosh Yeshiva of Diaspora Yeshiva. We are presently occupied with publishing our siddur - Siddur Chen. Many years of painstaking work was put into it so far. It is a result of much effort of our group that gathers to study the introductions and Kavanot of the Arizal. The siddur incorporates introductions, charts and explanations to ease the understanding of these Kavanot. We are simultaneously working on Ashkenaz, Sefard, and Safardi siddurim, in three languages, Hebrew, English and Spanish. Is it permitted to translate and why? Many ask if is it permitted to translate Kabbalah literature into other languages. There are multiple answers to this question. The main response is that the unfortunate situation today is that there are some charlatans out there, many of whom aren't even Jewish, that present themselves as Mekubalim. Unfortunately, many Jews fall prey to them. Therefore anyone with the power to protest has the obligation to do so. He should also publicize as much as possible the correct way to approach these gates of wisdom. He should educate the masses that there is no way to fulfill their desire of attaining this wisdom other than the authentic Jewish way that was passed down for generations. If anyone tries to attain this wisdom elsewhere he will destroy rather than rectify. Therefore, we feel it to be not only permitted but important to translate these seforim of Kabbalah to make our people aware of the aforementioned.
Another reason to translate these seforim is that many observant people throughout the world feel distant from spirituality. All their Torah and prayer are done by rote and just to fulfill their basic obligation to feel free to be able to move onto matters they find more interesting. We are confident that if they would taste the sweetness of the wisdom of Kabbalah, or even just some insights into what they are already doing, they would quickly be transformed to serious Ovdei Hashem. As they begin to see and understand how the whole Torah is connected to, and effects the higher worlds, they will get a new realization of what Torah is, and a renewed spirit. Sharing the merit with you It goes without saying that these projects are costly. Production is not progressing as quickly as it should fitting such a worthy project. We therefore extend our offer to all of Am Yisroel to participate in this tremendously holy project. Please take a generous part in funding the continuation of these important works. These are works of rishonim who are compared to angels. Through helping produce these works one can arouse the zchusim of the Rabbis who brought this profound wisdom down to us. This will also be the cause of elevation to their souls, and in this merit they will pray for us all to receive limitless bounty and blessing, Amen. What else is in it for you The Chofetz Chaim wrote in his sefer Ahavas Chesed that there are people who want to do something special in memory of a loved one. Sometimes they make a nice expensive tombstone with golden letters and nice flowers. Some add nice plants and the like and spend a fortune on these items. They think this will cause some pleasure to their departed relative. They are gravely mistaken. If heaven forbid a relative passes on and didn't leave any progeny behind, instead of investing in the above items, they should make an everlasting memory for them with a mitzvah that will endure for generations. If he doesn't have the means for this he should at least donate a Sefer in his memory, for the public to learn from, and write the name of the departed inside. This way whenever someone learns from it it will cause pleasure to the nifter. The Chofetz Chaim concludes that he's seen many do this. This merit is multiplied many times over if one would dedicate the publishing of a new Siddur like the one we are working on. This would help many Yidden throughout the world pray to Hashem with the proper kavana and to draw down to the world a spiritual and physical flow of blessings in all areas. This would also bring the geula closer. How meritorious would these sponsors be in this world and the next! They will be among the mezakei harabim that regarding them is written They are like the stars forever, for this is a merit that lasts forever. https://kingdavidkabbalah.com/
