Course/Module description: Todays society is often depicted as an organizational society. In Organization and Society we strive to understand organizations in their broadest social and historical context: how has the modern organization emerged and transformed over time? How do broader social processes shape the modern organization, and how, in turn, have organizational processes and dynamics affect the society within which they operate: its gender, class, ethnic and racial inequalities; its national identity and its integration into the global market Course/Module aims: Understanding of the modern organization and the complex relations between organizations and society. Learning outcomes - On successful completion of this module, students should be able to: To better understand organizational processes, how organizations affect the society within which they are operating and how they are shaped by this society. They would be able to read and understand scientific texts in sociology of organization, develop a basic research agenda in this field and comprehend their organizational environment within which they live and work.
