We must praise the Eternal, Ruler of All, the Maker of heaven and earth, who has set us apart from the other families of earth, giving us a destiny unique among the nations. We therefore bow in awe and thanksgiving before the One who is Sovereign over all, the Holy One, blessed be God. ו נ א מ ר: ו ה י ה י י ל מ ל ך ע ל כּ ל ה א ר ץ: בּ יּוֹם ה הוּא י ה י ה י י א ח ד וּשׁ מוֹ א ח ד. Vene emar: V haya Adonai l melech al kol ha aretz: Bayom hahu yiyeh Adonai echad u shmo echad. And it has been said: God shall reign over all the earth; on that day God shall be One and God s name shall be One. Our thoughts turn to those who have departed this earth: our own loved ones, those whom our friends and neighbors have lost, the martyrs of our people whose graves are unmarked, and those of every race and nation whose lives have been a blessing to humanity. We recall loved ones whom death has recently taken from us, those who died at this season in years past, and those whom we have taken into our hearts with our own. The memories of all of them are with us; our griefs and sympathies are mingled as we praise God and pray for the coming of God s kingdom. Page 12

O-seh sha-lom bi-me-ro-mav, hu ya-a-seh sha-lom a-lei-nu ve-al kol Yis-ra-eil, ve-i-me-ru: amein.
